At Animal Hospital of Onslow County, our in-house laboratory enables our experienced veterinarians to perform diagnostic testing that helps us get a complete picture of your pet’s health. Blood tests and other laboratory tests that we conduct identify conditions that may not be detectable during a regular examination.
Our state-of-the-art laboratory includes a HemaTrue Veterinary Hematology Analyzer and a Vetscan VS2 that can provide results for dozens of laboratory values often within a matter of minutes. We routinely conduct Complete Blood Counts (CBCs), and perform blood chemistries. Other tests that we provide include canine wellness, thyroid tests, cholesterol and kidney profiles, urinalysis, fecal flotation, as well as testing for heartworms. Additionally, our veterinarians use Fine Needle Aspirates and cytology to help diagnose skin tumors, cancerous infections, swollen lymph nodes, and some body fluids. We also use cytology to diagnose parasites in ear swabs and skin scrapes.
